Liz Powell has been practicing Vipassana meditation since 2004. She is currently in teacher training with Gil Fronsdal and Andrea Fella, and concurrently in Nature Dharma Teacher Training with Susie Harrington, Mark Coleman and Gil.

She is a graduate of Dharma Mentoring Training and Local Dharma Leader Training Programs with Gil Fronsdal and Andrea Fella at Insight Meditation Center, as well as having completed the DPP4 and APP1 Programs at Spirit Rock.

Liz has taught at IMC since 2009, currently co-teaching the 9-month Eightfold Path Program and the ongoing Happy Hour weekday evening practice of the brahma viharas, among other retreats and classes. She has co-taught IMC’s year-long Dharma Mentoring Training Program which develops senior students into Eightfold Path mentors. During the pandemic, Liz created an ongoing program for sangha members to sign up for individual practice discussions once a month via videoconference with IMC teachers.

For many years, she co-led monthly programs for children, families and parents, as well as developing and co-teaching an annual family retreat. She has also served as Managing Director of Insight Retreat Center and Board President at IMC.
