Dāna - The Practice Of Generosity

Donate Here

Dharma teachings are considered priceless and are offered freely, without expectation of anything in return. These teachings have been kept alive for 2,600 years through the generosity of participants. It is the practice of giving that supports the teachings for us now and will also allow them to continue for future generations.

The practice of giving, called dāna in the Pali language, not only supports the teachings, it is a powerful practice and central to walking the dharma path. Dāna nurtures our ability to let go, countering greed. It cultivates a spirit of caring and acknowledges the interconnectedness we all share.

The financial generosity of our community pays the expenses of White Heron Sangha and supports bringing teachers to the San Luis Obispo area for workshops and retreats, Sangha programs, and some dharma-related causes. We encourage you to practice generosity in supporting WHS, letting the gift come from the heart, with responsible consideration for your own financial situation.
